CROWN , BRIDGES AND IMPLANTS
What are Dental Crowns and Tooth Bridges? Both crowns and most bridges are fixed prosthetic devices. Unlike removable devices such as dentures, which you can take out and clean daily, crowns and bridges are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.
TREATMENTS
SEALANTS
Dental sealants are thin coatings that when painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) can prevent cavities (tooth decay) for many years. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from cavities by covering them with a protective shield that blocks out germs and food.
COMPOSITE OR BONDINGS
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which a tooth-colored composite resin material is applied to your teeth to improve your smile. Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained or have spaces between them.
IMPLANTS
Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth.
CROWNS
A crown or a ‘cap’ is a covering that fits over a prepared tooth.
They can be made from different materials which include the all porcelain, the porcelain bonded to precious metal and the gold alloy crown. Which type is appropriate will depend upon strength requirements and aesthetic concerns of the tooth involved.
BRIDGES
This permanent appliance is comprised of several pieces that are fused together to fit into the open space in place of a missing tooth. The bridge is used to replace a missing permanent tooth, to provide an ample chewing surface, and to aesthetically replace a missing tooth or teeth.
